ColorVision. Datacolor’s Digital Imaging Unit, will start offering a free software update for its flagship product, Spyder2PRO Studio, during the summer. The core feature of this update is a calibration function for projectors. This means that Spyder2PRO Studio users no longer have to adjust their projectors by hand. As well as correcting brightness and contrast, the Spyder2 colorimeter has been combined with new software, allowing red, green and blue tonal values to be measured on the projection surface. These measurements are then stored as custom ICC profiles, and loaded to the video card as calibration corrections. As usual, a software wizard will guide the user through the entire calibration process. Spyder2PRO Studio, incorporating the calibration software 2.0, will be available to new customers from mid-August at a price of € 299. Pre-Orders are already being taken for the package, which includes an adapter for mounting the hardware on a tripod.

“This offer means that ColorVision is once again setting new technical and pricing standards in the calibration solution market”, according to Christoph Gamper, General Manager of ColorVision Europe. “Other manufacturers are offering the extra functions which we have included in Spyder2PRO Studio as a stand-alone product – and are charging several times the price”.

“Digital creative types” who are already using another ColorVision product – for example in the photographic, advertising or architectural sectors, where professional presentation is a must – can avail of various upgrade models being offered by ColorVision to enable them to benefit from this new area of application.
